These include:  Angle grinder  Jigsaw  Portable circular Saws Radial Arm/Mitre saw  Biscuit jointer  Portable power plane and Routers \nYou will receive by email\, a course pack covering current legislation and the knowledge\, skills and understanding required to safely use this range of woodworking machinery in schools. If you have recently completed the D&TA ‘Core’ Elements Training\, and have submitted your portfolio of evidence\, you will be able to add this unit to your D&TA accreditation. \nPlease note – Certification is valid for a period of 5 years.  \n

DESCRIPTION:This Nationally accredited practical course will provide: \n\nTeachers\nTechnicians\nSupport staff/Premises Staff \n\nIn Design and Technology Departments ‘initial training’ on the Specialist Extension Level: S10HS Sharpening and Grinding \nThis course will enable delegates to acquire H&S accreditation certification through a ‘hands on’ approach using the types of grinding machines that can be safely used in school workshops.  \n\n The types and grading of bench stones that can be used to sharpen hand and machine tools\, safety in the use of abrasive wheels\n The hazards and risks arising from the use of abrasive wheels.\n How to: assemble abrasive wheels correctly to make sure they are properly balanced and fit to use. \n How to store\, handle and transport abrasive wheels. \n How to inspect and test abrasive wheels for damage. \n Appropriate methods of dressing abrasive wheels.\nThe use of a range of bench stones\, including an understanding of sharpening angles and the use of honing guides.\nHow to identify defects in grindstones and the procedures for dealing with them to avoid accidents.\n\nPlease note – Certification is valid for a period of 5 years.  \n
